The Construction Technology program consists of site layout with the transit level, concrete forms work, and building wood framework, including sub-flooring, sheathing, partitions, floor joists, studding, and rafters. Students are taught proper installation of molding, wood paneling, cabinets window sashes, doorframes, doors, hardware and stairs. Blueprint reading and mathematics are also taught. Safety is stressed throughout the program. Students will become skilled in the use of hand tools. Interest and aptitude are characteristics which carpenters should have, along with manual dexterity, mechanical aptitude, and good form perception. The ability to solve arithmetic problems quickly and accurately is also necessary. A good sense of balance; good eye, hand and foot coordination; good physical condition for prolonged standing, climbing and bending are also essential characteristics.
