Nursing: Registered Nurse

might be for you! Owensboro Community & Technical College’s Associate Degree Nursing Program (ADN) prepares its graduates to provide the highest quality care. Graduates earn an Associate in Applied Science degree and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN examination required to become a Registered Nurse. Our program is approved by the Kentucky Board of Nursing and our average NCLEX pass rate for the past 6 years has remained above the national average. Our graduates have the skills employers want, experiencing an average job placement rate of 90% upon graduation.

Minimum Requirements

  • Attend or view online a Pre Admission Conference and submit the Data Report Form by
    the application deadline.
  • Current application for admission to Owensboro Community and Technical College
    Declare major as Associate in Science with student group Nursing.
  • Official transcripts mailed to OCTC Office of the Registrar.
  • ACT composite score of ≥20.
  • ATI Academic Preparedness Category ≥Proficient on the TEAS V.5 Assessment (call 270-686-4444
    to schedule to take the TEAS V.5 exam).
  • Nursing GPA ≥2.75.
  • Completion of BIO 137, MAT 110 or MAT 150 (or higher), PSY 110 and meet Computer Literacy
    requirement (must be complete by first day of the first nursing course). A grade of “C” or higher is required in math and science courses.
  • Active status on Kentucky Nurse Aide Registry (must be complete by first day of the first nursing
    course).
  • CPR Certification- American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) for the Healthcare
    Provider with AED training (must be complete by first day of the first nursing course)

The Kentucky Board of Nursing may deny licensure to a nursing graduate who has been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony that involves acts that bear directly on the qualifications of the graduate to practice.
