Program Effectiveness/ Mission and Goals

Mission Statement

Owensboro Community and Technical College Radiography program’s mission is to provide a quality education to our students.  We strive to (1) produce academically and clinically competent radiographers who will provide quality healthcare to their community and (2) foster and support life-long learning by sustaining the mission statement of the institution.

Program Goals

1)    Students will have the necessary skills to function as competent entry-level radiographers. 

a)    Outcomes:

i)     Students will demonstrate exceptional quality patient care.
ii)    Students will exhibit overall outstanding clinical skills.

2)    Students will effectively demonstrate the ability to think critically. 

a)    Outcomes

i)     Students will determine the need to modify a procedure according to patient conditions.
ii)    Students will perform under pressure and provide assistance in complex situations.  

3)    Students will demonstrate effective communication skills. 

a)    Outcomes

i)     Students will demonstrate the proper use of AIDET when communicating with patients.
ii)    Students will utilize effective writing skills.

4)    Students will demonstrate professionalism.

a)    Outcomes

i)     Students will demonstrate professional behavior by dependability and accountability.
ii)    Students will submit a professional development plan.

Owensboro Community and Technical College Radiography Program is an accredited program through Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology.

2013

8 students sat for their board exam and 8 passed on first attempt with a pass rate of 100% and the class average was 91%.

12 students started the program and 8 completed. The retention rate was 66.7%

8 out of 8 students were employed in their field of study within 1 year of graduation. 100% job placement rate.

2014

110 students sat for their National Board Exam (ARRT) and 10 students passed on the first attempt. Class average for the boards was 85%.

15 students started the program in fall of 2012, 10 students completed the program in spring of 2014.The retention rate was 66.6%.

9 out of 10 students were employed within their field of study within 1 year of graduation. Job placement rate was 90%. One student returned to school for MRI/CT education.

2015

9 students sat for their National Board Exam (ARRT) and 9 students passed on the first attempt. Class average for the boards was 89%.

15 students started the program in Fall of 2013, 9 students completed the program in Spring of 2015. The retention rate was 60%.

9 out of 9 students were employed within their field of study within 1 year of graduation. Job placement rate was 100%.

2016

11 students sat for their board exam and 11 passed on first attempt with a pass rate of 100% and the class average was 90.1%.

15 students started the program and  10 completed. The retention rate was 67 %.

10 out of 10 students had employment in their field of study within 6 months of graduation.

2017

11 students sat for their board exam and 10 passed on first attempt. The programs pass rate was 90.9% and the class average on the exam was 86%. 17 studetns started the program and 11 completed. The retetion rate was 64.7% 11 out of 11 students had employment in their field of study within 6 months of graduation.
