Owensboro Community and Technical College has launched a 24/7 student service center.
Students may access the Go KCTCS! Student Service Center at 855-5GO-OCTC (855-546-6282) or help.owensboro.kctcs.edu. Students with questions about financial aid, student accounts or recovering their passwords may contact the service center any time, 365 days a year.
Students will be able to contact us on their schedule, said Kevin Beardmore, OCTC vice president of student affairs.
Service center specialists have access to a specially created database with OCTC students information, so they will be able to answer most questions swiftly. If the service center cant answer a question immediately, the inquiry will be forwarded to OCTC staff for attention during the campuss regular operating hours.
Even in those cases, were going to turn those around as quickly as possible, Beardmore said.
Some students prefer talking on the phone, while others favor the Internet. The center will cater to everyone, offering students the opportunity to speak with service center specialists on the phone, via live Internet chat or through email. The center is an initiative of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, and other colleges using it have reported very positive feedback.
Beardmore said OCTC prides itself on excellent student services, and the center will be an enhancement. For example, at peak times such as registration and financial aid deadlines, the service center will be able to add more staff to handle the increased volume of calls.
