Join us on Friday, August 16, 2024 for an orientation to all things OCTC for new and returning students. For last names beginning with A-J, check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. with a welcome session to start at 9:00 a.m. For last names beginning with K-Z, check-in begins at 10:30 a.m. with a welcome session to start at 11:00 a.m.
Check-in location: at the front of our Advanced Technology Center (ATC) building.
Parking information: click here to view a campus map to help you decide where it's best for you to park for this event. Parking lot P2 is the closest to the Advanced Technology Center and Campus Center buildings.
What to bring: be sure to bring a government issued form of identification (driver's license, Real ID, etc.).

A welcome to campus from Dr. Scott Williams, OCTC president, an introduction to the day's activities from Dr. Veen Sallan, vice president of academic affairs, adn expectations at OCTC by Dr. Ashleigh Crowe, vice president of student affairs.
SERVICES FAIR
- 9:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Industry Innovation Center (IIC) Lobby
Start your pathway to success by learnign about our most popular services. They include the following: Career Planning, Safety & Security, Transfer Pathways, Financial Aid, the Experiential Learning Center, Accessiblity Services, and the Ready to Work program for single parents. Our TRiO program is in place to help first generation and income eligible students. Explore public benefits eligibility with our kyNector.
REFRESHMENTS
- 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., IIC Lobby
We want you fueled for your day of exploring so swing by the IIC Lobby any time after 10:30 a.m. and enjoy some "Little Johns" on us! We'll also have some water on hand if you need a break as you navigate all the Pathfinder Day activities.
ONLINE ACCOUNT SETUP
- 9:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Learning Resource Center (LRE) Cyber Center
Head over to the Learnign Resource Center (LRE) and visit the Cyber Center. Learn how to set up your KCTCS account and how to access important applications such as MyPath, Email, Blackboard, Student Self-Service (PeopleSoft), Microsoft Office, and more!
STUDENT ID CARD
- 9:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., LRE Library Service Desk
While you are in the LRE, stop by any time and check in at the front desk of the Library to get your Student ID card made. Please, bring a copy of your schedule, and a government issued photo ID (driver's license, Real ID, etc.).
CAMPUS BOOKSTORE
- 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Campus Center
Access the OCTC Bookstore in the Campus Center, upper level, through the elevator (2R). Stop by and check out OCTC gear, purchase or rent new and used textbooks, or opt for the e-version when available. Please, bring a printed copy of your schedule and a photo ID!
LEARN YOUR WAY AROUND CAMPUS
- 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., anywhere you need to go!
Visit Student Records in the ATC if you need a printed copy of your class schedule and/or bill, or use the KCTCS app (available for iOS and Android), and select Owensboro as your campus. You can access your schedule from your phone and learn the other features that may make your life easier!
OCTC team members will be on hand in every building to direct you to the correct locations and answer any questions you may have. Look for the OCTC shirts! We are happy to help you at any time, but we know that some folks prefer to learn from experience of finding their way around to make it stick. You are more than welcome to walk around and find where your classes will be! If you'd like a guide, though, please just let one of our team members know and we'll be happy to provide one.
