OCTC announces new logo, updated website for students
Owensboro Community and Technical College has a fresh look that includes a new logo and an updated, more student-focused website.
The new logo and mobile-friendly website are part of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System's (KCTCS) 20-year anniversary "authentic identity" project. The project, which evolved over the course of more than a year, brought about the evolution of new logo and included a website makeover for each of the state's 16 community and technical colleges and the system office.
"The system has evolved during its first 20 years, and the time was right to take a step back and see what KCTCS and the colleges mean to our communities, students, employees and prospective students - our authentic identity," said OCTC President, Dr. Scott Williams.
Statewide research was conducted both internally and externally to garner consensus about the college and system roles in Kentucky and the individual college communities.
Williams commented, "The research found that people believe the colleges help students build a better life and that the colleges are beacons of hope in their communities."
The new logo is a contemporary version of the original college and system logos. It features a sunrise inside the shape of the state of Kentucky, and the sun has 16 rays that represent the 16 colleges that make up the KCTCS system.
Research participants said the sunrise brought to mind a bright future, full of hope and opportunity. They also felt strongly that the logo includes the state of Kentucky because it indicated that the local colleges are part of a larger, statewide educational system.
The college websites' makeover was designed to include more features that prospective students are looking for in a college website.
