CADD Students on NOCTI

The Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) program of Owensboro Community and Technical College (OCTC) began certification testing this semester using the National Occupational Competency and Testing Institutes (NOCTI) Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) Job-Ready exam to validate the students preparation for the job market and verify learning for the Federal Perkins Funding IV program. The exam tests the students knowledge learned in this high technology, high wage, and high demand career using a certified bank of 104 questions related to the job entry-level CAD employees need to know.

The CADD students of OCTC scored nearly ten points higher than the state and national averages for the exam when compared to the benchmark of 303 test-takers in 2012. Congratulations to these students and to the program for this excellent achievement. commented Dr. Jim Klauber, president of OCTC. Professor Steve Bailes of the CADD Program added, In my thirty years as an instructor I do not recall such a high score for a NOCTI exam. We have used the NOCTI for 15 years in validating the students job readiness using various drafting career job-ready exams such as Technical Drafting and Architectural Drafting but this one tops them all!
