Debate Students Earn Honors

OCTC students earned honors in both debate and individual events at the 20th annual Transylvania University Radio WYRD Speech and Debate Tournament November 30 and December 1.

The debate team of Connor Goodwin and Kelsey Clark and the team of Jim Lammers and Sarah Clark earned quarterfinalist awards in the Parliamentary Debate Division. Kelsey Clark also earned a third place speaker award, and Goodwin received a fourth place speaker award.

In individual events, Lammers placed third and Kelsey Clark was sixth in Impromptu Counseling; Sarah Clark was fourth in Persuasive Speaking and 6th in Informative Speaking; and Goodwin was fifth in Dramatic Interpretation.

The competition included numerous colleges and universities including Purdue University, the University of Kentucky and Tennessee Tech University.
