Fall 2011 Art Purchase Awards

The Owensboro Community amp; Technical College 2011 Fall Art Purchase Awards were announced last week at the colleges annual Hanging of the Greens event. The Juror for the Fall 2011 exhibition was Aaron Midkiff, an OCTC alumnus and regional artist. Midkiff was featured in the opening exhibit of the Dayman Gallery in September of 2011. The winning works of the end of semester student exhibit become part of the OCTC permanent collection and are displayed around the campuses. Monty Helm, Associate Professor of Art at OCTC said, "The OCTC permanent collection is growing thanks to the support of the OCTC Foundation and private donors who recognize the importance of the art created by our students." Helm selects the juror each semester and encourages students to participate in the exhibit. "Displaying student art enhances our campus culture and encourages creative expression, this is a great program and I always look forward to seeing the student exhibit at the end of each semester" said Dr. Jim Klauber, president of OCTC.
