The Greater Owensboro Chapter of FAME, the Kentucky Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (GO FAME) - is hosting a student recruitment event on Thursday, June 11 at 4:30 p.m. at the Hancock County Career Center, located at 1605 US Hwy 60 West in Hawesville, Kentucky. Industry representatives from the GO FAME Chapter will be on hand to discuss manufacturing career opportunities and the benefits of program participation, earning a great career and college degree with little or no college debt!

GO FAME is based on the nationally noted Toyota Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) program. The AMTs Work amp; Earn model allows participating students to earn an industry recognized, multi-craft technician degree over five semesters, in about eighteen months. Interested GO FAME applicants must be high school graduates (or equivalency) and be willing to participate in the programs 40 hour per week, apprenticeship-style format. Attending college two days per week, while working three days per week at their sponsoring company. Upon completion of the program, students receive an associate degree in Applied Sciences, and, with the practical skills gained during their paid work experience. Most students will then begin full-time employment with the sponsor company. Others may decide to further their technical education to obtain an engineering degree.
Prospective student participants, family, and interested community members are invited to attend the general information session being held at OCTC staff will be on hand to assist and answer questions related to the GO FAME program applications, college enrollment requirements, and federal financial aid applications.
