Humanities Endowment Grows
(Owensboro, KY, January 17, 2013) - The Owensboro Community amp; Technical College Foundation is humming along toward its goal of creating a $1 million endowment to support humanities enriching activities for students and the Greater Owensboro community.
OCTC President Jim Klauber and members of the OCTC Foundation announced Jan. 14 that $200,000 had been raised locally to match a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) challenge grant. OCTC is one of only six community colleges in the nation to receive this grant.
OCTC plans to raise another $200,000 for a total of $400,000 in local contributions. The NEH grant will provide matching dollars of $200,000, and the Kentucky Community amp; Technical College System will provide another $400,000 in matching funds. As a result, every local dollar donated will generate $2.50 toward the goal of a $1 million endowment.
Not very often do you as an individual or company have the opportunity to make a donation that immediately multiplies two and a half times, said Barry Embry, president of the OCTC Foundation. Please don't miss this opportunity and send your donation to OCTC Foundation.
The theme of the campaign is HUM (Humans Understanding More.) Enrichment activities in collaboration with community partners include the following: Common Reading Project, Global Studies Activities and Intercultural Events.
