New OCTC Military Science Course (Leadership-Adventure-Comradery-Teamwork)

This fall OCTC is offering a new course focusing on military science. The MIL 101: Military Mountaineering and Leadership will be taught by Master Sergeant Micky Wells. The courses at OCTC will work in conjunction with the curriculum offered at Western Kentucky Universitys military science offerings.

We are excited about offering this course to OCTC students. The course will focus on goal-setting, physical fitness planning, stress, and time management said Master Sergeant Wells, ROTC representative. In addition, cadets will receive an overview of Army Ownership and leadership skills needed to succeed in any chosen career, stated Wells.

OCTC president, Dr. Jim Klauber commented, Being retired from the National Guard, I can speak first-hand to how much those experiences have influenced me. It is great that we have this as an additional option for our students. It is a perfect way for students to get a taste of that environment before making a decision to enlist.
Along with these skills, special attention will be given to the opportunities afforded to a student interested in earning a commission in the United States Army, Army Reserves, or Kentucky National Guard. Students interested in taking this course MIL 101, please contact Master Sgt. Wells at army.rotc@kctcs.edu or call (270) 686-3792.
