OCTC Dayman Gallery Exhibit
Owensboro Community amp; Technical College is proud to host a two-person exhibition of artworks by Gary Adams and Paul Morsey in the Dayman Gallery located at OCTCs main campus. The exhibition opens August 15 and closes September 30. An artists reception will be held on Friday, August 19, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., the public is invited. The exhibition is composed of works on paper by Adams entitled, Sketches from Europe, 1975 and photography by Morsey entitled, Photographic Eye.
Gary Adams of Owensboro, Kentucky, received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Kentucky in 1975. He spent his final semester of study at UKs European Design Workshop, then based in Venice, Italy. Adams exhibit includes 16 works from his European sketchbook. Subjects range from Italian Renaissance buildings and urban spaces to Le Corbusiers pioneering Modern design in France. Media include pencil, ink and watercolor. Adams retired from the Owensboro Metropolitan Planning Commission as Associate Director of Planning in 2004 after a 29-year career in a wide-range of urban planning projects. As a volunteer, he continues to play a role in Owensboros urban design and historic preservation efforts.
Paul Morsey started taking pictures when he was about 12 and continued shooting on and off as a hobby for the next 61 years. His interest in photography was reignited in 2001 with the purchase of a digital camera. He stated, I learned a lot through 10 years as a member of the Owensboro Photography Club, reading about photography, and practice. Morseys main subjects are industrial ruins, trains, nature, and candid shots of people. His photographs are in the collections of Old National Bank and Western Kentucky Botanical Garden. More than 60 of his photos were published in Daviess County, Kentucky: Celebrating Our Heritage 1815-2015. His work is represented in publications of the National Parks Conservation Association, Washington, D.C., and the American Civil Liberties Union of Kentucky, Louisville.
The Dayman Gallery is located on the 2nd floor of the Learning Resource Center. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday 7:45 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, contact Monty Helm at 270 686-4626.
