OCTC Hosts FIRST Lego League Kickoff

Owensboro Community and Technical College is hosting a kickoff event for the FIRST Lego League robotics competition season Saturday, August 21 from 9-11 AM in the Advanced Technology Center on the main campus of Owensboro Community amp; Technical College at 4800 New Hartford Road, for interested Students, Coaches, Mentors, and the community. FIRST Lego League is a robotics competition for students ages 9-14.

This years challenge field featuring Biomedical Engineering will be on display during the event. Teams will have the opportunity to check out a Lego Mindstorms robot for use in this years competition and register for the events. Teams may also obtain an official team number from FIRST, program a robot, and learn more about this years challenge. Coaches and Adult leaders may register to win a national registration valued at $200 to benefit their local team. The drawing will take place between 10-11 AM and you must be present to win.

Owensboro Community and Technical College along with the Owensboro Museum of Science and History co-host the event, this is the second annual competition. This years regional event will take place on Saturday, December 4, 2010. Last year over 30 local teams participated in the event, with 13 teams advancing to the state competition at Western Kentucky University.
