OCTC STUDENT ART EXHIBIT KATIE DAVIS MAY 2017 CANDIDATE FOR ASSOCIATE IN FINE ARTS

An art exhibition by OCTC student Katie Davis is on display in the Dayman Gallery, October 24 - November 21, 2016. Davis is a visual art student at Owensboro Community and Technical College and is a candidate to receive an Associate in Fine Arts degree at the end of the fall semester. Davis primary focus is on painting, but also enjoys working in many other media including ceramics, sculpture, and drawing.

Davis was very active in the Art Club at McLean County High School and received several art awards and achievements throughout her high school career. Her work is already represented in the permanent art collection at OCTC. Davis plans to continue her academic studies by transferring to Brescia University in the spring of 2017.

Davis states, My art is a representation of the beauty I see around me every day. My biggest inspiration to create comes from colors and organic shapes within nature. Im also inspired by other artists such as Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, and Georgia OKeeffe for not only their style, but their work ethic and passion.

The Dayman Gallery is located on the 2nd floor of the Learning Resource Center on OCTCs main campus. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information about OCTC art exhibits or the AFA program please contact Monty Helm at (270) 686-4626 or via e-mail at monty.helm@kctcs.edu.
