OCTC STUDENTS EARN AWARDS AT DEBATE TOURNEY

wensboro Community amp; Technical College (OCTC) hosted the 6th annual Marty Cronin Memorial Speech Tournament. In addition to the OCTC Speech amp; Debate Team, the tournament was open to all OCTC students. Winners from the OCTC Speech and Debate team included Abby Hagan, a first in Impromptu, and a second in Improv Pairs. T.J. Matally earned a third place award in Impromptu, a first place in Improv Pairs, a first place in Radio Broadcasting, and a first place in How To Speaking. Lacey Parham earned a first place in Impromptu Pairs, a first place in News Analysis, and a first place in Impromptu Counseling. Rhett Knott earned a second place in Impromptu Pairs, a second place in Radio Broadcasting, a second place in News Analysis and a sixth place in Impromptu Counseling.

Other OCTC students that participated earned numerous awards and included Tracy Dickens who earned a fifth place in Impromptu, a fourth place in Persuasion, a sixth place in Impromptu Counseling, and a fourth place in How To Speaking. Skyler Klaas earned a fourth place in Improv Pairs, and a second place in Impromptu Counseling. Skyler Wahl earned a fourth place in Impromptu Pairs, and a seventh place in How To Speaking. Haylee Evans earned a fifth place in Impromptu Pairs, a fifth place in Radio Broadcasting, and a fifth place in Informative Speaking. Rachel Neal earned a third place in Informative Speaking, a third place in Persuasion, and a third place in How To Speaking. Lynn Lyons earned a first place award for Persuasion. Katie Dickerson earned a second place award for Persuasion. Brandon Houton earned a third place award for News Analysis. Kaylynn Nunnes earned a third place award for Impromptu Counseling.

OCTC Discover College students are dually enrolled in high school or homeschooled and attend college classes, these students are also eligible to join the team or participate in the tournament. The students who earned awards included Daviess Countys Abby Hagan and Lacey Parham who is homeschooled and are both members of the OCTC Speech amp; Debate Team.

Other students from Daviess County High School that participated included Mya Hildenbrandt, who earned a third place in Improv Pairs, and a first place in Informative Speaking. Sydney Hitchell who earned a third place in Improv Pairs and a second place in Informative Speaking.

From Apollo High School Jenn Knowles, earned a second place in Impromptu, a fifth place in Improv Pairs, a fourth place in Informative Speaking, a fifth place in Impromptu Counseling, and a fifth place in How To Speaking.

Charles Walker from Owensboro High School earned a fourth place in Radio Broadcasting, and a second place honor for How To Speaking.

Additional Homeschool students included Isaiah Scott and Anne Goodwin. Isaiah Scott, earned a third place in Radio Broadcasting, and a fourth place in Impromptu Counseling. Anne Goodwin earned a sixth place in Radio Broadcasting and sixth place in How To Speaking.
