OCTC SURGICAL TECHNOLOGY STUDENTS 100% PASS RATE FOR NATIONAL CERTIFICATION EXAM

Owensboro Community and Technical College is pleased to announce that for the second straight year the students in the Surgical Technology program achieved a 100% pass rate for the National Board of Surgical Technology amp; Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) Certification Exam, which is a requirement for employment in most surgical facilities. 100% pass rates for professional certification is a great demonstration of the quality of instruction our students are receiving. This pass rate also shows employers that these students are fully prepared to begin their professional careers remarked Dr. Scott Williams, President of OCTC. Zara Basham the program coordinator for Surgical Technology commented, This is a testament to the hard work and diligence of our students and faculty. The students must have the knowledge and demonstrate the skills needed to be successful. I am very proud of their accomplishments.

The Surgical Technology program is a two-year, including prerequisite courses, selective admission program. The application deadline was June 1, but students may begin the process for the next round of applications by taking general education courses. Basham encourages interested students to sit in on a class or two, so they can really get a feel for what the program is about.
