OCTC's Art Purchase Awards

Owensboro Community amp; Technical College presented the 2010 Spring Semester Art Purchase Awards on Thursday, April 22 in conjunction with premiering the latest issue of the colleges SKYLARK literary magazine, which features photos of art pieces in addition to literary works from faculty, staff and students.

The awards are selected based on the submission of work for the student exhibit and are chosen by an independent juror, the pieces become part of the college's permanent collection. This semesters juror was Scott Norris, Art faculty from Daviess County High School. The Merit Award was presented to Jennifer Segrest for Green Bottles an Oil on Canvas; the First place Ceramics Award was presented to Tina Rager for Waterfall Reflection, Ceramic; The First place 2D Design Award was presented to Drew Stinnett for A Hint of Blue, Acrylic on Paper; First place Painting Award was presented to Lucas Ray for Faith, an Oil on Canvas; the Best in Show Award was presented to Beth Helton for Cancer, an Oil on Canvas.

The art can be viewed during the end of semester student exhibit currently on display in the Dayman Art Gallery, located on the upper level of the Learning Resource Center on the main campus of OCTC at 4800 New Hartford Road.
