OCTCS SPEECH DEBATE TEAM EARNS HONORS AT MURRAY STATE

Owensboro Community amp; Technical College earned first place in two events and won a Team Sweepstakes Award at the 15th Annual Ruby Krider Speech Invitational at Murray State University. Competing programs included students from Alabama, Bradley University, Bowling Green State, WKU, Clemson, and Illinois State.


James Knox, Freshman-Owensboro, took first place in Radio Broadcasting and Dee McHenry, Sophomore-Owensboro, earned first place honors in Poetry Reading. In addition, Knox earned fourth place honors in Extemporaneous Speaking. Dee McHenry was a finalist in Prose Speaking. Christina Wilson, Freshman-Owensboro, earned a finalist award in After Dinner Speaking.

The team also earned a second place Team Sweepstakes Award in the small college division. Four of the five students representing OCTC were competing for the first time at the collegiate level.
