OCTCS SPEECH DEBATE TEAM WINS AT MURRAY STATE UNIVERSITY

The Owensboro Community amp; Technical College (OCTC) Speech amp; Debate Team competed in the 20th annual Ruby Krider Speech Tournament at Murray State University on February 6, 2016. The team earned first place in team awards in the Community College division of the tournament.

Individual OCTC team members earned additional honors. Jacob Grant, and Sarah Beth Caudill each earned first place in the Novice Duo Interpretation, and placed in the top ten speakers in the Pentathlon category of overall excellence. Grant also earned second place in Persuasion, fourth in Radio Broadcasting, and fifth in Extemporaneous Speaking. Caudill earned fourth in Informative Speaking, in Persuasive Speaking, and fifth in Extemporaneous Speaking. Madeline McBride earned finalist honors in Informative Speaking, Sharon Richling placed sixth in Radio Broadcasting, and Rhett Knott competed in Pentad and in six individual events.
