Robotics Competition Saturday 2/1/14 at OCTC

The state robotics competition originally planned for December, but postponed due to weather, will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Owensboro Community and Technical College. Twenty-four teams are scheduled to compete, representing schools and organizations across the state of Kentucky. Regional high schools scheduled to participate include Daviess County, Apollo, Owensboro, Trinity, South Spencer and Heritage Hills.

FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is an international robotics competition for students ages 14-18. Students are responsible for designing, building, and programming unique robots to compete in a sports themed arena. The program is run by volunteers and is sponsored in part by grants from the National Science Foundation, Time Warner, AMETC, Domtar and ALCOA.

The tentative schedule for the day:

7:30 - 8:15 AM Registration for teams in ATC 107

8:15 AM Coaches Meeting

8:30 -10:30 AM Judge Interviews-Closed sessions to spectators

10:30 - 11:00 AM Opening Ceremonies in Blandford Hall, Humanities Building

11 AM - 3:30 PM Competition in ATC 210/208

12:30 1 PM Lunch

3:30 4 PM Alliance Selection in Blandford Hall

4 - 4:30 PM Elimination Rounds in ATC 208/210

4:30 5 PM Closing Ceremony Blandford Hall
