The Foundation for Owensboro Community and Technical College hosted a reception for the special announcement of a scholarship endowment in honor of one of the founding fathers, Andy Anderson on Monday, December 12. The OCTC Foundation began as the Green RIver Educational Foundation before Owensboro Community & Technical College was established and has grown exponentially since its beginning. Many of the founding members of that foundation are also considered as the founding fathers of OCTC. The announcement was a surprise for Anderson whose family and friends were in attendance. "I feel honored to have been involved in education and in the betterment of this community." commented Anderson. His son Todd Anderson, who sits on the current board of OCTC said, "I am proud to follow in my Dad's footsteps.Once I came on this board and realized the impact that OCTC has had on this community I knew that my Dad had been in on the start of something great."
"Anytime we can garner this kind of community support for our students is a success for us. Our students typically stay here in our region, so this is an investment in the future leaders of our community, a great legacy for Mr. Anderson." said Dr. Jim Klauber, president of OCTC.
