GO-EDC TO HOST CEO/PLANT MANAGER ROUNDTABLE FORUM

Area manufacturing CEOs and plant managers are invited to attend a roundtable forum hosted by the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation (GO-EDC) on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. The event will be held in the third floor training room of the Commerce Center Building located at 200 East Third Street. This GO-EDC roundtable forum will provide CEOs and plant managers a unique opportunity to discuss industry challenges and workforce trends and solutions.

The quality of our workforce is and will be for the foreseeable future the most important economic development driver of our economy. GO-EDC plays a pivotal role in bringing key manufacturing stakeholders together in order to develop collaborative solutions. said Madison Silvert, president and CEO of the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation.

Regional workforce development collaborations, such as the Greater Owensboro Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (GO FAME) will be highlighted during the roundtable forum. Launched in 2015, GO FAME is a successful apprenticeship-style model designed to grow the communitys pipeline of skilled advanced manufacturing technicians. The GO FAME consortia is comprised of manufacturing companies, Owensboro Community and Technical College, and GO-EDC.
Current GO FAME companies include: Big Rivers, Castlen Steel, Daicel Safety Systems, Domtar, Kentron, Kimberly Clark, Metalsa, Omico Plastics, Precision Roll Grinders, Specialty Foods Group, Sun Windows, Trifecta, TTMA and UniFirst.

Representatives from GO FAME chapter members (employers) will be on hand to talk about the training programs success and its impact on developing highly skilled technicians. In addition, information on how to participate as a GO FAME employer member, and a survey of manufacturing skills and needs for 2016-17 will be discussed during the roundtable forum.
