University of Evansville Authors Headline Third Tuesday Writers Coffeehouse November 18

Owensboro, KY, Tuesday, November 11, 2014 Three authors who teach at the University of Evansville will perform at 7 p.m., Tuesday, November 18th at Third Tuesday Writers Coffeehouse in the International Bluegrass Museum on 117 E. Daviess Street in Owensboro, Ky. They are Paul Bone, Rob Griffith, and Katie Darby Mullins.

Bone heads the Department of Creative Writing at the University of Evansville and co-edits the metrical-poetry journal Measure. His collection of poems, Nostalgia for Sacrifice, was published in 2013. His work has been published in such journal as 32 Poems, The Cimarron Review, and The Iron Horse Literary Review. He lived and taught in Tokyo before moving to Evansville.

Griffiths latest book,The Moon from Every Windowwas nominated for the 2013 Poets Prize, and his previous book,A Matinee in Plato's Cave, won the 2009 Best Book of Indiana Award. His poems have appeared in Poetry,The North American Review,Poems amp; Plays,and The Oxford American. He co-edits Measureand teaches in the creative writing program.

Mullins, a Pushcart Prize nominee and editor of a rock 'n roll edition of Measure has published her work in such journals as Hawaii Pacific Review, Big Lucks, and The Evansville Review. She also founded and writes for the music blog Katie Darby Recommends.

OCTC professors Matt Branham, Lewis Court, and Dan Hildenbrandt will open the evening with live music. OCTC professors Shannon Collins and Branham emcee the event. Deaconess Hospital pharmacy tech Jason Rhodes emcees open mic.

Music begins at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Third Tuesday Writers Coffeehouse is an outreach of the Brescia University creative writing program. Program Director David Bartholomy and alumnus Barbara Bennett co-founded the coffeehouse in 1995.
