Experiential Learning Center

ELCThe Experiential Learning Center (ELC) is committed to being an essential resource for students, faculty, employers and community partners. We are here to assist faculty with developing experiential learning opportunities for students and to equip students with the essential skills necessary for career success, ultimately benefiting employers and community partners by providing an educated and more qualified workforce.

What is Experiential Learning?

Experiential learning is a “hands-on” approach to education. When students learn by doing, they develop a deeper understanding and are then able to apply and retain what they have learned. Students participating in internships, job shadowing, service-learning projects, and course embedded experiential learning opportunities develop essential skills sought by employers.

Services Offered

The ELC offers a variety of services to students, faculty, employers and community partners.

Student services include career exploration, internship and job opportunities, resume and interview assistance, mentoring and coaching, and a variety of workshops aimed at helping students become successful.

The ELC assists faculty with developing course-embedded experiential learning opportunities and establishing placement sites for programs requiring internships or job shadowing.

Employers and community partners can work with the ELC to recruit interns and employees, develop project-based opportunities, mentor the future workforce, and to post jobs on the career services platform Handshake.
